Alpine Choughs in Chamonix, near the Mont Blanc

SYNOPSIS

This film relates the life of this small mountain crow, the alpine chough, filmed in the majestic Chamonix valley (on the french and swiss border), commentated by renowned french ornithologist Anne Delestrade.

The yellow-billed chough is particularly a bird of heights, and is found in all high mountainous areas in Europe, Asia and in North Africa. In France, this bird resides in the Alpes, the Pyrenees and in Corsica mountains.

In Chamonix, near the famous Mount Blanc massif and some of the highest peaks in Europe, Anne Delestrade regularly captures and puts rings on choughs so she can study this little unknown animal.

She is also interested in his cousin, the large member of the species, the mythical raven, that can make an amazing loop the loop.

Though it is frequently confused with the jackdaw, a plains bird that is never seen at high altitudes, the yellow-billed chough remains a symbol of the mountains.
